Terence Blanchard is a Grammy Award winning jazz trumpeter, bandleader and multiple genre composer. Born in New Orleans in 1962, Blanchard has composed scores for the films of Spike Lee and music for the world premiere of playwright Stephen Adly Guirgis’s “The Motherf**cker With the Hat” featuring Chris Rock in the lead. He also composed for the revival of Tennessee Williams “A Streetcar Named Desire” directed by Emily Mann. Terence Blanchard was a member of Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers in 1983 as the replacement for Wynton Marsalis whilst creating his recording career with Concord for two albums and Columbia for three before launching his solo calling with his ground breaking 1991 collection for Columbia
