(b. 1968)
Born in 1968, Peter Bruun was educated at Arhus University 1989-1991 studying philosophy and composition with Niels Marthinsen. Whilst at Arhus he studied with Per Norgard, Bent Lorentzen and Hans Abrahamsen. Bruun’s compositions are invariably collaborations with either individual musicians or ensembles who make the decision with their own instrumental possibilities. A good example of this would with the collaboration with Thomas Sandberg (solo percussionist) and the group Tukutukahh. Other notable collaborations with ensembles are Ensemble 2000, string quartet Danske Ror and the Esbjerg Ensemble. Vocal writing and the compositional repetitive style has also showed in Bruun’s writing and this is clear with the type of smaller chamber groups he chooses to associate with.
