(b. 1974)
Enrico Chapela was born in Mexico City in 1974 and in his early years studied guitar and composition at the CIEM academy in Mexico. At the age of 34 in 2008, Chapela succeeded in obtaining his Masters degree at the University of Paris and since has been commissioned for a new work by the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France. Other orchestras that have sought commissions have been in the UK Britten Sinfonia, the Wigmore Hall and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, the US Los Angeles Philharmonic, Carnegie Hall and Berkeley Symphony and in mainland Europe, Dresdner Sinfoniker and Deutsche Welle. Enrico Chapela’s music is well-known and is regularly performed worldwide and he hosts a music radio show and in Mexico City and teaches composition at the NICO academy.
